29 apr 2020 - Decking project (She who must be obeyed)

Samantha decided we needed decking on our top garden (we already have decking on our lower level), but the top garden has much more sun. Both being professional sun bathers it seemed like a good idea.

Moments later it was declared that the decking had been purchased, my head still in a whirl, I was out in the baking heat digging out turf for the project. Sam helped, she really is strong for a lady!

Taking the top layer of turf off a 9 sqM on hard ground is no easy task I can tell you, even after generous amounts of hosepipe treatment, then of course, is the problem of levelling it on an already
10degree sloping garden, see pic one before and pic 2 of my progress after about 5 hrs effort (over two days).

The decking wont arrive for 3-4 weeks but will post the finished article on here.

On Monday had our skype call with Wakefield Council regarding fostering. I dont think were going to have any issue being accepted, but there clearly is a lot to consider. The social worker made it very clear that it can be very hard, in many ways. Of course, we knew this. If we were to do this I think we'd like to try Respite care where it gives existing foster carers a break, that way its more 'planned in advance' and would give us a chance to declare when we were and weren't available. It was very clear to me, reading between the lines, that there is a very critical shortage of foster parents. The story's we discussed with the social worker were truly heartbreaking.

Im pretty sure I couldnt do it full time or long term both physically or emotionally, but the suggestion appeared to be - anything you can offer would be considered.  the next stage is the virtual training, but more thought and consideration from us is required.

I completed a cello filling for a promo for a website intro, the customer paid the asked me to score it ! (a few extra quid but days of work as my scoring into sheet is very poor!--  Im possibly going to have to sub contract it out, meaning I wont actually make that much on the gig. ARRGGGG lol).
